Making Nets and Shapes

WALT make nets for simple 3-D shapes and to create models of these. The hardest shape for me to make was the cube as it was very small and hard to put together.

A net is a 2-D Shape, we have been making nets and turning them into 3-D Cubes. The first image is my nets, the second image is my cubes.

On the left is a rectangular prism,in the middle is the tetrahedron and on the right is the square-based-pyramid.

I have used the net on the left to make a cylinder on the right.

Summer Learning Journey Week 2 Day 3 Part 3 The Midnight Zone

The Midnight Zone

The squid weighs approximately 500 kg.

Let’s imagine that the average adult can lift 25 kg and the average child can lift 15 kg. How many adults and children will it take to move the giant squid into its new room at Te Papa?

On your blog, tell us how you will solve this maths problem. You can write your answer in words, use a Sketchpad image or post a video explaining how you would figure it out. Be sure to give us your final answer.

It would end up taking 20 Adults to lift it if they all lifted 25kg

20 x 25 = 500Kgs

or 500Kgs divided by 25Kgs = 20 Adults

Summer Learning Journey, Week 1, Day 2, Part 3. Weird and Wonderful

Weird and Wonderful
On your blog, tell us how to solve this maths problem. You can write your answer in words, use a Sketchpad image, or post a video explaining how you would figure it out. Be sure to give us your final answer in millilitres (ml).

To solve this maths problem you would go 365 x 3 = 1095mls.

You can also go 300 x 3 = 900 and 60 x 3 = 180 and 5 x 3 = 15 and then
add 900 + 180 + 15 = 1095mls.
